Italian architect Stefano Boeri is well known for bringing a vertical forest to Milan, Italy. Now, he is bringing that design to Nanjing, China. The project will use about 1,100 trees and 2,500 shrubs between two buildings. It's estimated that the forest will produce 132 pounds of oxygen each day.
What is the purpose of this green project? To bring more local biodiversity to the area - over 20 local species of trees will be used, and to improve the air quality of the city.
