Mayor's Rose Garden Party

Sean MurphyComment

The Rouvalis Team had the pleasure of attending the Rose Garden Party at the Kelleher Rose Garden in Back Bay last night, June 15th! It was an evening filled with beautiful flowers, both growing and in fascinators and floral crowns. There was both a live and silent auction, benefiting the Boston Parks & Recreation Department, which is a wonderful cause!

We were honored to win the prize for "Most Creative" in the Fascinator category! Each designer created her fascinator with her dress in mind, using a variety of flowers and textural elements,

Plant Pick: Tillandsia

Sean MurphyComment

We all know tillandisa in their most popular form, as air plants that do not require any dirt or soil. However, today we received some potted tillandsia, and they are awesome!

Their bright pink rosette in the middle will singly produce violet colored flowers. The care for these plants is similar to that of a succulent.

Water: Water a small amount of water every 10-14 days. They have a very small root system, so they do not need large amounts of water.

Light: Keep out of direct sunlight; these plants are happiest in bright, indirect sunlight.

Orchid Planters

Sean MurphyComment

Orchids are a classic look for any room, and we love combining them with succulents for a more modern and trendy look. Also, they have very similar care instructions (bright light and little water), which makes them perfect companions in planters! We recently potted up these slate gray containers for a client's outdoor space. We used primarily potted echeveria and peperomias, accompanied by medium-height phalaenopsis orchids.

Holiday Weekend Hours

We will be closed this Memorial Day weekend, from Saturday, May 27- Monday, May 29. We will reopen as usual on Tuesday, May 30th from 9am - 6pm for all your flower and plant needs!

From our latest collection, Nantucket! The epitome of summers on the coast of New England, these gorgeous deep and variegated amethyst Dutch hydrangea pop against chartreuse mini green hydrangea and hanging amaranth.

Flower Crowns

Sean MurphyComment

Flower crowns are a common request here at the shop, and we wanted to share a recent one we completed for a special customer!

Just like everything we do, each flower crown is completed with the customer in mind, whom we work closely with to make sure that the final product is exactly what they had envisioned. In this case, our client had requested a soft, feminine, and delicate look. We completed it with pale pinks, whites, and some variegated green ivy. We used ranunculus as the focal flower, and used lisianthus, hypericum, and silver dollar eucalyptus so create a touch of volume.

The finishing touch was the white satin ribbon, tied in the back of the head, for a soft and flowing look.

Succulent Planters

Sean MurphyComment

Succulents are among some of our favorite plants here at the shop. They are very low maintenance and instantly add a fun and structural element to any room, or flower arrangement for that matter.

But, now that the weather here in Boston has finally gotten (and stayed) warm, we think that succulents are the perfect accessory to an outdoor space. All you need is a container that matches your decor, a few succulents, and you have an instant table piece! Below is a recent one we completed for a client, complete with jades, hens and chicks, and potted echeveria.

Of course, planters do not need to be that large to make an impact - a grouping of small votives with just a few succulents works just as well in a smaller space!
