Harvard Art Museums recently acquired A Flor de Piel, a tapestry by Colombian artist Doris Salcedo made out of thousands of dried rose petals stitched together. The piece was inspired by a Colombian nurse in the civil war who was tortured for helping soldiers on both sides of the battlefront.
The room-sized tapestry will be on display from November 4th - April 9, 2017 at the Harvard Art Museums. The photo and full article can be read here.
Rex Begonias are a colorful plant that have so many different colors and varieties, you are sure to find one that you love. During the warmer months, you will find them in seasonal planters, but they are an excellent house plant for the cold Boston winter!
Begonias prefer bright indirect sunlight and prefer their soil to stay evenly moist. However, they do not tolerate over watering well, so be sure to check that the soil is not too wet when watering. We recommend thoroughly watering once a week.

Halloween is my all-time favorite holiday! I think it is the most fun for indoor and outdoor decorating and I just love the high contrast colors of pumpkin orange and black or a bold purple. We turn our Boston shoppe into a little Halloween town with the spookiest decor around. Tucked in our little niches you'll find life-like skulls, adorable sugar pumpkins, and festive flickering candles. Drop in before the big day to see our collection of treats and while your here be sure to take a stroll through Beacon Hill. Our friends and neighbors take Halloween just as seriously as we do and there are plenty of spook-tacular front door displays to be seen!

This eerie hand-tied bouquet features fall classics like white kale, scabiosa pods and black feather fern.
We created this hauntingly beautiful flower crown for a very special client's Calavera costume. We used roses, thistle, delphinium and ornithogalum to get the colors and texture she wanted to match her face paint.

Although Hurricane Matthew is long on its affects are still being damaging to growers in the industry in the Florida area. The hardest hit is a grower we use on a weekly basis who's crop and equipment have been damaged or ruined. With this happening a majority of ferns and cut greens will be limited until growers can replant and cultivate the land after the hurricane.
It's the spookiest time of year - the week before Halloween! The residents of Beacon Hill are gearing up for a night of tricks and treats. Here at Rouvalis, we are keeping our gourds, native corn, and pumpkin trees fully stocked and sending out beautiful, fall textural arrangements.

Let me start off by saying this isn't our style, but we can't help but be enthused buy VIP Roses the growers and masterminds behind these glow in the dark roses.
The Roses receive a treatment with a glow topping that makes them glow beautiful in the dark.
They perfected the procedure and able to treat the roses in such a way that the vase life is not affected.
The glow in the dark roses absorb outside light (sunlight or strong light source) and radiates out into the dark. Each single rose seems to glow beautifully which makes them look like rose light bulbs.
Being a Massachusetts residents we are lucky enough to have Fall Foliage in our backyards. People from across the world travel to New England each Fall to take in the spectacular foliage we have to offer. From as far west as the Berkshires to the coastal communities such as Gloucester, Massachusetts fall foliage is a kaleidoscope of color. According to Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism these are the top places to view the foliage throughout the state.

Our plant pick this week is a favorite among our staff and customers - the Fiddle-Leaf Fig tree! These trees are native to western Africa, and grow in lowland tropical rain forests. They are available in both a topiary and bush style, ranging from about 3 feet to 6 feet tall.
While the fiddle-leaf can have a bit of a difficult reputation, the trees really just need a very bright room with as much direct sunlight as possible and away from any drafts (such as heating or air conditioning vents). They should only be watered when the soil is wet to the touch, or thoroughly once a week.
This week, we are focusing on softer autumn colors and classic fall textures in our arrangements. Despite the warm weather we've been having, Boston fall is in full swing, with more leaves changing every day. Here are our favorites this week (from left to right):

Red Apple Farm located in Phillipston Ma, has graciously donated a 1,082 pound pumpkin to be on display for Boston Public Market first ever Harvest Party which will take place this Thursday, The party starts at 5pm with a Chefs dinner that goes until 7pm followed by a party 7pm to 10pm.
